Case 24

Presentation:

A 50-year-old male was admitted as a case of pleural and pericardial effusion. A whole-body PET scan was performed to assess infective endocarditis.

Describe your findings In the thorax heterogeneous moderately increased FDG activity within the pericardial effusion and pericardial thickening. Mild pneumopericardium. Mildly FDG avid mediastinal and bilateral hilar lymph nodes, for instance right paratracheal (SUV 4.7, axial 68, 11 mm short axis), para-aortic, subcarinal, and bilateral hilar lymph nodes. There are cutaneous moderate to intense FDG avid thickening in the right lower abdomen and left groin which may be inflammatory/infectious process, like a furuncle.
